What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Super Bowl Sunday!

Published by laurabelle at 10:09 am under Programming Edit This

superbowl.jpgIt’s Super Bowl Sunday, meaning there isn’t a lot of choices out there other than football tonight, but don’t fret if you’re not a fan, as I was able to dig up a few things. If you’re into cute little animals, check out the Puppy Bowl with puppies “performing,” during the game, which is really a large pen decorated to look like a football field. At half time, they’re cleared out and a huge scratching post monstrosity is erected as the kittens take over. What a better way to end the night after the football, whether being played by humans or pets, than watching the Office with Jack Black, Jessica Alba, and Cloris Leachman guest starring.

1. Road to the Super Bowl. It’s a look back at the 2008 season of the NFL with the top moments, as well as the best on-field sound bites, which should prove quiet interesting. 11:00 AM CT NBC

2. Super Bowl XLIII Pre-Game Show. This is one long-assed show at five hours long. Along with interviews and updates from Tampa, we also have Matt Lauer interviewing President Obama and Bob Costas talking it up with Bruce Springsteen who will perform the halftime show. Who will be the better interview? 12:00 PM CT NBC

3. Premonition. This thriller stars Sandra Bullock as a woman whose husband dies, and the next morning she wakes up to find it was all a dream. The following morning she wakes up to find that was a dream, and he really did die, and so on. Find out more here . 12:00 PM CT Showtime 2 West

4. NBA Basketball: Cavaliers at Pistons. Not into the football hype? Watch some basketball instead. It was Detroit besting Cleveland when the teams met on November 19. 1:30 PM CT ABC

5. Puppy Bowl V. The puppies take the field throughout this “game,” but make way for the kittens at half time. I just want to go on record saying it’s the cutest thing ever, and the best part is the animals shown are all adoptable. 2:00 PM CT Animal Planet

6. Smart People. Very well-acted movie with Dennis Quaid, Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Thomas Hayden Church, which has Quaid as a widowed English professor, and Page as his disapproving daughter, find out more about these characters here . 4:15 PM CT Starz 1

7. Super Bowl XLIII: Cardinals vs. Steelers. It’s the big game, Arizona against the favored Pittsburgh. Arizona is newbies to this game, but Pittsburgh is old pros at it. Bruce Springsteen will perform at halftime, Jennifer Hudson will sing the National Anthem, and don’t forget the commercials. 5:00 PM CT NBC

8. CBS Reports: The Road to the White House. A report on President Obama’s journey to the White House. I can’t figure out why they didn’t just include this as part of 60 Minutes instead of preempting it. 6:00 PM CT CBS

9. Down and Out In Beverly Hills. Nick Nolte stars as a bum who gets invited to live at Richard Dreyfuss’ house with his dog. “Oh, Matisse. You’re so misunderstood.” 7:00 PM CT SoapNet

10. Enchanted. Disney did it up well in this one as they parody themselves and their fairy tale/princess movies. It stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Susan Sarandon. 7:00 PM CT Starz 4

11. Wipeout Bowl I: Cheerleaders vs. Couch Potatoes. It’s back with a football special! Tonight the obstacles will all be football-related, and Michael Irvin will act as sideline reporter. 9:00 PM CT ABC

12. The Office. The staff at the office want to view a bootlegged movie at work secretly. Michael throws a roast for himself, with Jack Black, Jessica Alba, and Cloris Leachman guest starring. 9:30 PM CT NBC (Time approximate after football)
