What’s Hot On TV Tonight - The Return of Hell’s Kitchen

Don’t let my daughter know I just called this Hell’s Kitchen. She insists it should be called “Heck’s Kitchen.” Fox apparently can’t stand to not have Gordon Ramsay on their schedule, as just as we had the season finale of Kitchen Nightmares, now we have the competitive kitchen show starting. It’ll have a good lead-in, too, from the last audition episode of American Idol
1. Forrest Gump. I wonder if what makes this movie so entertaining and endearing is the chance that maybe we all wish for a simple life like Forrest’s. Despite his difficult beginnings, it seemed like stuff was always simple for him … like a box of chocolates. 12:00 PM CT HBO West
2. The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen’s guest today is Drew Barrymore, promoting her new movie He’s Just Not That Into You, starring … practically everybody. It opens Friday. Syndicated, check local listings.
3. Evan Almighty. It’s the sequel to Bruce Almighty with Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman reprising their roles. Carell’s character is now a congressman and is asked by God (Freeman) to build an ark. It has some great messages if you look for them. 4:00 PM CT 5StarMax
4. My Name Is Earl. Joy is placed in a plastic bubble with a flesh-eating toe infection, and Earl looks at her role in life of gossiping and shopping, then realizes he should help her children, the outcasts. 7:00 PM CT NBC
5. Ugly Betty. Betty has too many distractions as she considers an important decision that will affect her family and bank account. Connor insists he will identify the mystery man in Molly’s life, and that sends Daniel into hiding. 7:00 PM CT ABC
6. Smallville. Oliver is injured in an explosion at LuthorCorp, and he suspects Lex is the one to blame. Clark and Lana, however, find the culprit to be Oliver’s ex employee Winslow Schott, a toymaker with a grudge. 7:00 PM CT CW
7. American Idol. It’s a bonus episode tonight with auditions form New York and San Juan, heading into the Hollywood rounds next week. 7:00 PM CT Fox
8. Kath & Kim. Mother and daughter compete together to win the chance to host Wynonna Judd for dinner. They go full out in preparations, but fail to impress the judges. Craig and Derrick work on composing a country song. 7:30 PM CT NBC
9. The Office. In part one of a two parter, Michael travels with Pam and his driver on a speaking tour of the other Dunder-Mifflin branches in order to share his insight about the success at Scranton. Dwight and Jim don’t do well as party planners as they forget a birthday, and Andy isn’t very successful finding love. 8:00 PM CT NBC

13. 30 Rock. Liz finds that her new neighbor is handsome and a newly single doctor, but doesn’t do well winning his favor. Jack tries to impress Eisa’s grandmother, but his likeness to a Spanish soap villain works against him. Tracy parties with the new interns, but can’t match their hard-carousing ways.
14. The Queen. Helen Mirren’s Oscar-winning role as Queen Elizabeth II, as she deals with the new prime minister and the death of her daughter-in-law, Princess Diana. 8:00 PM CT Lifetime.
