The answer is February 12, and right now that seems like a long time away. It’s just hard to look at everything on the schedule tonight being new, except for one glaring omission, the first hour of primetime on CBS. We all know what belongs there. Instead, we have a repeat of CSI, followed by a new episode of it in the second hour. We have to face three empty Thursdays until it returns. A cast list is now up, meaning it’s not too far away.

1. Racing Stripes. Hayden Panettiere stars as a girl growing up on a horse farm that begins taking care of a zebra (voiced by Frankie Muniz), who doesn’t realize he’s not a horse and wants to race with the others at the track. The voices of Dustin Hoffman, Joe Pantoliano, and Whoopi Goldberg are included as well. It’s a good film for kids. 10:15 AM CT HBO Comedy

2. Fracture. Anthony Hopkins is great as usual in this psychological thriller as an engineer that commits the perfect murder of his wife, nearly teasing the investigators to figure out his crime. Ryan Gosling stars as the prosecutor. 1:30 PM CT HBO 2 East

3. My Name Is Earl. Darnell Outed. It’s the conclusion of last week’s show, as Darnell leaves town with the family, assuming a new identity, after his witness-protection cover was revealed by Joy. Catalina, Earl, and Randy get together to find them. 7:00 PM CT NBC

4. Ugly Betty. Betty and Hilda are on the outs, and a four-way love connection happens between Daniel, Molly, Connor, and Wilhelmina. 7:00 PM CT ABC

5. Smallville. In order to discover who shot John Jones, Clark goes undercover as a cop. Lana shakes Tess somewhat with her opinion on Lex, leaving her to reconsider her position with Luthorcorp. 7:00 PM CT CW

6. Bones. Brennan and Booth are undercover as a knife-throwing act in the circus to figure out who might be responsible for the murdered conjoined twins, which produces quite a colorful list of suspects, which includes the ringmaster, a strong man, and the usual clowns. 7:00 PM CT Fox

7. Kath & Kim. Kath is supportive of Kim as she attempts to become an anchorwoman at the local news station. Craig hits Phil’s car, then ends up getting it confiscated by police. 7:30 PM CT NBC

8. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Investigating what seems to be a simple burglary, Langston has his first day on the job as a CSI. The case then becomes tangled up with an arson and a murder. 8:00 PM CT CBS

9. The Office. Michael and Dwight go undercover in order to turn up information on a paper company rival. The others enter into a debate over the beauty of HIlary Swank. 8:00 PM CT NBC

10. Grey’s Anatomy. As Bailey’s young patient worsens, she searches for an organ donor, with one possibility being the death row inmate played by Eric Stoltz. Mark is left in a compromising position in the OR because of an injury, and Cristina tries to avoid Owen, looking foolish in the process. 8:00 PM CT ABC

11. Supernatural. A magician that at one time had been famous, and who now lives in a small town, makes a deal to receive real magical powers, but pays a hefty price for it when a murder occurs from it. 8:00 PM CT CW

12. Bones. Booth becomes a suspect in the murder of a rival ice hockey player who he has fought in the past. Brennan gets a new FBI partner. 8:00 PM CT Fox

13. Eleventh Hour. It’s a miracle when a boy’s malignant tumor disappears after he drinks water from a Minnesota natural spring, and Hood sets out to prove the water is not responsible. 9:01 PM CT CBS

14. ER. Morris treats a young girl who was hit on her bike (that happened to me once!), and Gates continues to have trouble with the distance that Sam is insisting on. Neela gets a case of nerves when she finds Brenner is back from Australia. 9:00 PM CT CBS

15. Private Practice. Violet learns she’s pregnant, but isn’t sure who the father is. After kissing Wyatt, Addison struggles with her conscience, Sam and Pete disagree when and old friend asks them for help dying, and Charlotte proposes to Cooper. 9:02 PM CT ABC
