Ellen DeGeneres Gets Her Man and Her Woman
While People.com published an article with the title of Ellen Finally Gets Her Man, I couldn’t help but think as I looked at another People.com article, that Ellen got her man and her woman.
Since Ellen has moved to the Warner Brothers studio lot, she has had a running gag going. She is close to both George Clooney’s and Clint Eastwood’s offices. While she had a tour of Eastwood’s office, and even had him on the show a few times, Clooney remained elusive.
Ellen tried everything she could think of to get George on her show. When she would show up on his doorstep, he was never around, and she then started sending over gifts and people meant to trap him. She sent baskets of goodies, the Rockettes, and even a marching band.
Interviewing Brad Pitt on her show, Ellen asked him for advice on how to get George’s attention. He hinted she’d been approaching this the wrong way, and that she should send him some Chippendales dancers. She did, but it still didn’t work too well. Next, she took the advice of his ex-ER costar Noah Wylie who suggested Ellen should invite former Cincinnati Reds stars Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench.
Monday, George and the baseball players will all appear on Ellen’s show. During the taping, George admitted that people are constantly asking him why he wouldn’t make an appearance on Ellen’s show. His only excuse was that he hasn’t been in town for a long time. Since September. So, there’s her man.

Portia de Rossi, whom Ellen married this past summer once it was legalized, only to face Prop 8 shortly after, is making the interview rounds promoting her new upcoming series on ABC, Better Off Ted. One of the upcoming interviews she isn’t looking forward to is strangely sitting across from her wife, Ellen.
Using the term “unfortunately” to address whether or not she would be on her spouse’s show, Portia explains that it will be an “awkward” interview. She knows Ellen would do a flawless job as usual, and Portia’s excited to promote her show, but she’s worried about questions that don’t have to do with Better Off Ted.
Portia is worried that Ellen will ask her some personal questions, which she calls “off limits.” At first, I understood People.com’s line of questioning, wondering why Ellen wouldn’t already know all those personal details. Then I thought of my own marriage, and thought, while my husband knows all the little details, there are certain ways he could probably prompt me to admit things I didn’t want to.
All Portia needs to do, though, is turn it back around on Ellen at that point and ask her quite blank who she was more excited to have as her guest George Clooney or Portia.
