Whats Hot On TV

Now that Deal or No Deal has been relegated to specials, instead of weekly and bi-weekly appearances, Howie Mandel is back with another show, Howie Do It, a prank-based show. Something about that manic humor of his tells me it will be successful. It’s one of many new episodes on tonight. CBS has decided to get their act together and offer new programming again finally, along with every other network other than Fox, who still seems to be on break until they have the ratings of American Idol.

1. Weekend at Bernie’s. I don’t know if there’s anything better for getting me in a good mood. It’s just fun, simple as that. Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman star as two friends that find their boss dead at his beach house and decide the best thing is to not let anyone know he died, so carry around the dead body throughout the movie. When he falls out of the boat and dings the buoys with his head, nothing is as funny as that. Nothing.10:45 AM CT HBO East

2. Ellen DeGeneres Show. Clint Eastwood and Jason Mesnick, the Bachelor, are the guests. Clint is a “neighbor” of Ellen’s there on the studio lot, and Jason needs to fess up about what happens when Deanna Pappas comes back this season. Syndicated, check local listings.

3. Waitress. Keri Russell stars in this movie of a waitress who suffers living with a controlling abusive husband and keeps a running plan for her escape. She deals with it all by making creative pies that tell the story of her life. After a pregnancy starts to complicate her plans, she falls for her doctor. The writer, filmmaker, and star of this movie was murdered tragically before it achieved success. 6:00 PM CT HBO Signature

4. Ghost Whisperer. Melinda tries to heal a family that is suffering after going through a freak accident, and Delia goes through her first haunting. 7:00 PM CT CBS

5. Howie Do It. Howie Mandel hosts this prank-based show, and in the premiere we have a singing telegram being delivered during a funeral, a nightmarish dating show, and a waiter floundering. 7:00 PM CT NBC

6. Wife Swap. Forget about the switch. I just can’t get over a workaholic doctor that gets into the roller derby. Nonetheless, she switches with a beauty pageant mom. Hmm. Pageants …. roller derby … pageants … roller derby … 7:00 PM CT ABC

7. Everybody Hates Chris. Rochelle suddenly feels younger when she realizes she’s actually a year younger than she had thought, a stranger helps Chris during a citywide blackout prompting Chris to try to pay it forward, and Greg tries to create a new identity away from Chris. 7:00 PM CT CW

8. Bruce Almighty. Morgan Freeman plays God and gives Jim Carrey as a TV reporter some of his powers. He’s just hoping it helps him in his relationship with Jennifer Aniston, but does try to do things the right way and help the people who need it … eventually. 7:00 PM CT Fox

9. The Game. Jason wants to get Kelly back and get her to stop talking possible divorce, Malik is tired of dealing with the whole fake marriage to Robin Givens thing, especially when she doesn’t want him seeing other women. 7:00 PM CT CW

10. Flashpoint. The SRU is working security detail for a billionaire and his wife (assumably not Thirsten Howell and Lovey), as they are scheduled to attend a benefit at a hotel, but a man posing as a journalist kidnaps the woman. The kidnappers aren’t looking for cash, but want the billionaire to admit to committing murder, among other criminal activity, in his business dealings in South Africa. 8:00 PM CT CBS

11. Lipstick Jungle. Wendy tries to control Maddie with Shane gone, Dahlia lands Nico a Today Show gig to help with her image, and Victory works to get peace between Joe and her parents. Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb have cameos in the episode. 8:00 PM CT NBC

12. Supernanny. Jo helps a family manage their 4-year-old twin boys who like to terrorize their baby sister and have already figured out how to play the game and control Mom and Dad. 8:00 PM CT ABC

13. NUMB3RS. A teen who had been convicted of murder and sentenced to prison by Don after a cross-country crime spree with his 30-year-old teacher escapes with revenge on his mind. Don uses his new religious beliefs to help him deal with it all. 9:00 PM CT CBS

14. Dateline NBC. Friends thought this couple were very devoted to each other until doctors found anti-freeze in her system after her death. The question became whether it was murder, accident, or suicide. 9:00 PM CT NBC

15. 20/20. One girl’s amazing story after being left paralyzed after an attack. She claims to not be angry. 9:00 PM CT ABC
