What’s Hot On TV Tonight - A New Grey’s Anatomy!

Once again it’s a puzzling evening as far as the rhyme or reason behind the programming on the different stations. After the People’s Choice Awards last night, CBS is goinjg back to time off as is the CW, Fox is busy with the BCS playoffs, ABC is plugging along with an all new evening, and NBC is back at work, except for the Office. Do you think Steve Carrell wasn’t ready to return to work yet?
1. The TV Set. What makes this movie about the making of a TV show from casting to filming the pilot interesting is that it’s the big stars that are portraying people behind the scenes, and virtual unknowns playing the actors. David Duchovny stars as the writer, and Sigourney Weaver plays a network executive. 1:00 PM CT Showtime East
2. Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen’s guest today is Anne Hathaway who’s on promoting her new film she stars in with Kate Hudson, Bride Wars, which debuts tomorow. Syndicated, check local listings.
3. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I haven’t seen this one, but would like to. If for no other reason, because it stars Brad Pitt. Casey Affleck stars as well, who I originally thought was just in the business because of his brother, but was pleasantly surprised by him. 5:00 PM CT HBO 2 West
4. My Name is Earl. Earl tries to right the wrongs of his childhood, a spiteful act he committed against his babysitter and her boyfriend, and focuses on their adult son, trying to help him make it on his own. Joy takes her time telling Darnell that she lost his pet turtle. 7:00 PM CT NBC
5. Ugly Betty. Betty wants to make a good impression on a YETI editor, then meets her counterpart at Elle Magazine, as the competition between the two magazinnes keeps up. 7:00 PM CT ABC
6. There’s Something About Mary. Looking for some laughs tonight? You can’t do much better than this film that stars Ben Stiller as a guy lusting after Cameron Diaz, and makes the most creative hair gel ever. 7:00 PM CT FX
7. BCS Championship Game: Oklahoma vs. Florida. Two of the top three scoring offenses and the past two Heisman Trophy winners face off playing for the title in Miami. It’s the first time these two teams have met. 7:15 PM CT Fox
8. Kath & Kim. Kath is supportive of Kim as she tries to become the new anchorwoman at their local news station. Phil’s car is confiscated after Craig accidentally hits it. 7:30 PM CT NBC
9. Grey’s Anatomy. Bailey tries to save the life of a longtime patient along with Seattle Grace’s new pediatric surgeon, Derek gets upset when a death row inmate is admitted, and Izzie admits to Alex that she’s been seeing Denny. 8:00 PM CT ABC
10. 30 Rock. Liz continues her quest for a baby, even after meeting a new man. Jack is kept busy wooing his mother’s nurse (Salma Hayak), helping Jenna land a role as Janis Joplin, and counseling Tracy and his wife with their marriage. 8:30 PM CT NBC
11. ER. Banfield treats two brothers that are injured becaue of a drug deal gone badly, then makes a decision that will affect her family. Neela considers pediatric surgery while treating a young patient with sickle-cell anema, and Gates and Sam’s communication completely breaks down with concerns over Alex. 9:00 PM CT NBC
12. Private Practice. One of Cooper’s patients gets measles, forcing a quarantine, Naomi tries to convince Addison to work on a fertility case with Wyatt, Dell fights for sole custody of his daughter, and Violet and Pete consider taking their mostly platonic relationship to the next level. 9:00 PM CT ABC
