What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Happy New Year!

Another year come and gone. 2008 has been a whacky one for TV, especially with most of the series that debuted just a few months ago already dead, except for Knight Rider mentioned below. How did that one survive but not the others? We have a few bowl games on today before the big ones tomorrow, and have New Year’s Eve celebrations on NBC, ABC, and Fox. Pick your poison! Watch the champagne. Those little glasses have a way of sneaking up on ya!
1. Elf. It’s the last time to see this one for the year. Will Ferrell stars in this film as an adult man who was raised among Santa’s elves, but with his size, obviously doesn’t fit in in more ways than one, so he goes in search of his birth father in NYC. 9:00 AM CT USA
2. Terms of Endearment. I could use a good cry before the new year hits, and this will definitely get it all out of my system Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine star as a mother and daughter pair, with the story following from childhood through adulthood for the daughter. Jack Nicholson has the best role as “the astronaut.” 9:00 AM CT Cinemax West
3. Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force vs. Houston. From Forth Worth, Texas, the last time Houston won a Bowl game, none of the current players were born yet. Air Force has already beaten Houston once this year. 11:00 AM CT ESPN4. Sun Bowl: Pittsburgh vs. Oregon State. From El Paso, Texas, Oregon State has lost their last three games played against Big East teams. 1:00 PM CT CBS

6. Knight Rider. This show hasn’t been on in several weeks, and they pick now, New Year’s Eve, to put it back on again. While many others this season met their demise, this show hangs in there. On tonight’s show, a devastating computer virus is spreading and could mean a stallout for KITT, who’s infected. Mike is jealous when Sarah reconnects with an ex. 7:00 PM CT NBC
7. Shrek 2. A sequel to the first that is probably just as good, and definitely better than the third. She meets his in-laws in this one, and we’re also introduced to Puss ‘n Boots (Antonio Banderas). Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, and Eddie Murphy are back in their original roles. 7:00 PM CT ABC
8. How to Deal. Starring Mandy Moore, this movie is based on two separate Sarah Dessen novels, Someone Like You and That Summer. Moore plays a teenage girl trying to make sense of it after her father leaves the family for a younger woman. 7:00 PM CT CW
9. Chick-Fil-A Bowl: LSU vs. Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech ranks third in rushing and seems to be playing well this season under a new coach, but LSU seems to be struggling. 7:00 PM CT ESPN10. Inside the NFL. See how the season breaks down, who’s headed for the playoffs, and who’s not. I know the Bears aren’t. As someone I watched the game with pointed out, everyone helped the Bears make it into the playoffs that day except themselves. 8:00 PM CT Showtime East
11. New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly. From New York City, the performers scheduled to appear are T.I., Ludacris, Elton John, Katy Perry, and the Ting Tings.
