What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Kennedy Center Honors

homepage_image.jpgEvery year we see a little star power brought about by Caroline Kennedy, as the last surviving member of Jack and Jackie’s family, with the Kennedy Center Honors. Some of the best are honored each year, and tonight is no different We also have some children’s New Year’s specials, and Eli Stone trying to get the last of its new episodes aired before the show ends and is stuck on the shelf, most likely forever.

1. Jumanji. A great fantasy film with some even better special effects about a game that when played brings about all sorts of interesting things, starring Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, and Kirsten Dunst. 9:00 AM CT TBS

2. Charlotte’s Web. There are some great celebrity voices in this retelling of the classic tale about a pig, a spider, and their friends. Dakota Fanning stars, with the animals being voiced by Julia Roberts, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, and Oprah Winfrey. 12:45 PM CT Showtime West

3. Biloxi Blues. I think of this movie every time it’s really hot outside. Matthew Broderick’s character landing in Biloxi for boot camp walks through and notes how hot it is. He says it isn’t New Jersey hot; it’s Africa hot. With so little, it’s just so descriptive. 4;30 PM CT Encore 3

4. Happy New Year, Charlie Brown. The Peanuts Gang now extends past their Christmas and Halloween specials, and now we have a New Year special. Charlie Brown isn’t haven’t a great Christmas break as he has to read War and Peace during the time off and has to miss part of the New Year’s Eve celebration. 7:00 PM CT ABC

5. Rudolph’s Shiny New Year. This was repeated a lot this month and now that it’s finally time for it, is everyone sick of it? Red Skelton narrates with the other celebrities voices that of Morey Amsterdam and Frank Gorshin. 7:30 PM CT ABC

6. Once. A truly unique love story with two musicians that never even come close to consummating the relationship, starring Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. They were hired for the music in the film, and they worked so well, it was decided to go with them instead of regular actors, and they went on to win an Oscar for the music in the film. 7:30 PM CT WMax

7. Kennedy Center Honors. The honorees tonight at the 31st annual celebration are Morgan Freeman, George Jones, Barbra Streisand, Twyla Tharp, Pete Townshend, and Roger Daltrey. Hosted by Caroline Kennedy, there are also appearances by Beyoncé, Jack Black, Garth Brooks, Glenn Close, Clint Eastwood, Dave Grohl, Alan Jackson, B.B. King, Shelby Lynne, Idina Menzel, Ne-Yo, Kelli O’Hara, Brad Paisley, Queen Latifah, Joss Stone, Rob Thomas, Lily Tomlin, Randy Travis, and Denzel Washington. 8:00 PM CT CBS

8. According to Jim. When Andy’s fiancée calls off their engagement, changing his and Jim’s plans for a guys’ weekend in the woods. They’re shocked when the fiancée’s ex is in the same cabin. 8:30 PM ABC

9. Eli Stone. When Nate asks Eli to officiate at his wedding, it confirms Eli’s suspicion about Nate’s fiancée’s commitment. Eli then opts for a risky acupuncture treatment hoping to get more of a glimpse into the future. A minister needs Eli’s and Keith’s help as he fights descrimination, and Taylor and Matt have news that upsets them about a pregnancy. 9:00 PM CT ABC

10. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. The family scif-fi movie about an alien that lands on earth and is quickly takent in by a young boy as they befriend each other and learn each other’s ways. 10:00 PM CT HBO Signature
