What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Midwest Showdown - It’s Packers vs. Bears!

I don’t think you could pay me enough to be at tonight’s Packers/Bears game in Chicago with this weather. It’s currently -5 out there and the high is predicted to be 4. We’re not talking windchill here, people. And you know there will be a section of Bears fans in the stands without shirts on. There isn’t anything I need to go outside for today, other than taking my daughter to ballet, and that’s the only thing pulling me outside. Watching the game on ESPN will be enough for me. Other than the football game, we have some classic movies throughout the day, and we then move on to the second installment of Momma’s Boys and Prison Break winding down before it’s cancelled.

1. Good Will Hunting. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s first big success. They not only starred in the film, but wrote it as well, earning an Oscar for the writing. Damon plays a young highly intelligent guy working as a janitor, and as we follow him through the film, we start to understand just why. 9:00 PM CT TBS

2. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. If you like cute dogs and sassy cats, you’ll like this movie. Some of us animal lovers like to think we know what dogs are thinking and what they would say if they had the chance. This movie gives us the chance to see we’re right. 1:00 PM CT Hallmark

3. The Polar Express. This one has aired several times this past month, and after the first time, a few days from Christmas, I think it’s time to finally watch it again. It’s a great story, and only helped by Tom Hanks’ talent, but I just can’t watch it every few days. 5:00 PM CT ABC Family

4. Aliens. As I repeat often here, I always like the original much better than the sequels, but here’s an exception to the rule. Both of them put Sigourney Weaver on the map. And here’s a funny story. Back in the day, we had tiny little booklets put out by HBO every month that had all the movies form the month listed as well as a program guide. Looking through it, my dad who was refusing to admit his eyesight was no longer perfect, as what this horror movie Allens was all about. 6:20 PM CT Encore 5

5. 2008: Today Looks Back, a Holiday Special. The Today Show gang checks in with a retrospective look back on the past year with news stories, pop-culture happenings, people, and even some bloopers. With the election this year, it seems it could feature heavily in all the aforementioned topics. 7:00 PM CT NBC

6. Shrek the Halls. It’s the holiday season with Shrek, Fiona, and their kids, with them being visited by Donkey, Puss ‘n Boots, and Gingerbread Man. 7:00 PM CT ABC

7. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Johnny Depp takes over the lead in this updated version of Willy Wonka. Directed by Tim Burton, bringing him and Depp together after their initial success with Edward Scissorhands. 7:30 PM CT ABC

8. Monday Night Football: Packers at Bears. Green Bay is pretty much out of the playoff picture with a 5-9 record, but the Bears are still battling for the lead of the NFC North. With Minnesota’s loss to Atlanta, if the Bears win tonight, it makes them tied for the division lead. I’m guessing they have revenge on their mind after the last meeting, just in case the playoff picture isn’t enough to inspire them.. 7:30 PM CT ESPN

9. Momma’s Boys. Good golly. What’s in store for us tonight with Mrs. B. and the girls? Sure, there are two other moms and their sons on the show, but it’s hard to even remember them much after watching Mrs. B. and her outrageous views. I’m sure, though, that with tonight’s show we’ll have more oddities from Mrs. B. but enough of the others to start forming an opinion on everyone. 8:00 PM CT NBC

10. Prison Break. While Linc is pursuing Scylla in Miami, Michael is staying in a mountain cabin in California and learning something new about the Company. A Company psychiatrist guides him through his childhood memories. Sara is waiting for news of him at a luxury hotel, and not having a good time of it. 8:00 PM CT Fox

11. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Robin Williams is the guest tonight, and I have to think he’s a favorite of every talk show host, as you can just let him go, and really don’t need to prepare for the interview that much. Johnny Mathis guests as well. 10:35 PM CT NBC
