Survivor - Most Interesting Final 5

Published by laurabelle at 8:32 pm under Commentary Edit This

29.jpgThis season of Survivor seems to have taken the most turns. Just when we thought we were headed for a Pagonging, Kenny swung into action, playing the most amazing game, playing blindside after blindside. I think last week, though, he may have gotten a little ahead of himself. In the process, it definitely cost Crystal the game, and it just may cost him the game as well.

By last week, Kenny really could have written his own ticket. He had everyone clamoring to be in his alliance, even Bob. Kenny had a way of targeting the strongest threat, and convincing everyone else to get rid of that person. Even as people were saying they weren’t sure if he was telling the truth or not, they couldn’t take the chance, and would know it was best to get rid of that big threat anyway. It worked time after time.

30.jpgOnce Corinne and Bob came to him to join their alliance, telling him they had the other idol, he knew there was a chance of them lying, and should have just ridden it out, and let them believe he was with them, yet vote out Corinne. Matty wasn’t the big threat anyway; Bob was. Kenny would still have everyone left on his side, and even if Bob went on to win the next immunity, they would have to take out one of their own, so no one would think badly of that, knowing it had to happen, instead of this now looking like he was trying to take out Matt secretly.

The problem with that whole operation is that he gave control of the game away to Bob. Then this week, he should have taken control back, but instead, he accepted Bob’s offer to give him the immunity idol to make up for the goof the week before. Kenny thought that was putting him back in control, but it wasn’t. It was keeping the control in Bob’s hands.

Crystal then shot her mouth off to Matty when she shouldn’t have, and Kenny continued to let others control the game by listening to Sugar. He should have been the one out there making the plans. When me makes the plans, he keeps the control, and gets out the others that could take the control away. The others played his game back on him, yet instead of taking out him, took out Crystal, which even though she doesn’t win challenges, is an obvious better physical threat than Kenny.

4.jpgSo where does this leave us for final five? It depends on who wins the next challenges. I don’t believe Sugar and her “I want the good people to win” one iota. She’s flip flopped too many times in the game. And for that matter, so has Bob. Everyone wants to make him out to be this sweet old man that would never lie, but he turned on his alliance of Corinne and Randy to take out Randy and save himself, then got back with Corinne to turn on Matty, then brought Matty back in to turn on Kenny and Crystal. He lies to people in the game just the same as Kenny. He just waited until his game depended on it to do so. He has the advantage of being able to win challenges, so he doesn’t have to lie as often. Kenny doesn’t win challenges, and has stayed this long based on purely strategic moves.

If the others really want to win the game and take control away from Bob, if he loses the next immunity, they need to vote him out and take out the sure threat. He’s likable and wins challenges, both physical and mental. That’s not the person you want in final four. Matty doesn’t win many challenges, but is seen as a physical threat. If Sugar, Kenny, and Susie want to make it to final three, they need to take out a physical threat this time, whoever doesn’t win immunity. By taking out Kenny, if that’s where they’re headed, it serves no purpose. He’s not in control and won’t win the final challenge that is always physical. Sugar and Susie probably won’t win those either.

9.jpgBob seems to have taken over Kenny’s game of taking out the sure threats. He needs to realize right now his main physical threat may be Matty, but the threat at controlling the game is Sugar. She’s already done it a few times as well. Taking out Kenny or Susie for him wouldn’t make sense. He doesn’t have any deep ties to the people left. They’re all Fang. He needs to not get caught up in Sugar’s “I want the good people to win” ploy, as at this point, that’s all it is with Sugar.

If Bob or Kenny win at this point, it will be well-deserved for what they have accomplished in the game. If Sugar wins, it would be somewhat deserved, but Matty really hasn’t done much, other than cling to alliances. Susie hasn’t really done much of anything, other than help change the tide of the game. She was smart to go along with Kenny and Cheryl. Had she not, she would have been long gone, instead of the final five.
