What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Amazing Race 13 Reaches the Finish Line

I’ve grown disgusted with ABC Family this week. They’ve been ignoring all our Christmas favorites, choosing to put on movies that have nothing to do with Christmas, and the last two nights as well as tonight, are Harry Potter. Nothing against the kid with the scarred forehead, but that’s not what I want when I’m looking for holiday fare, meaning they shouldn’t be calling it the 25 Days of Christmas. It’s more like 25 Day of Stuff We Think Will Bring Us Ratings. Fear not, real holiday programming returns tomorrow. We’ll still have a lot of fun, as is instead of holiday fare tonight, we have the finale of The Amazing Race. Who’s it going to be?
1. Coal Miner’s Daughter. Bio epic of the life of Loretta Lynn which won Sissy Spack an Oscar. She didn’t have an easy life, that’s for sure. 11:00 PM CT Retro
2. NFL Football. Jaguars at Bears. It’s time for Chicago to kick it into gear. It’s now or never. It should be interesting to to watch these two running backs go against each other, Fred Taylor who’s setting records in Jacksonville, and Matt Forte, who is unbelievable as Chicago’s top runner and receiver. 12:00 PM CT CBS
3. Nutcracker On Ice. Skating stars Oksana Baiul, Viktor Petrenko, and Brian Boitano take on Tchaikovsky’s classic holiday ballet back in 1994. 12:30 PM CT ABC
4. NFL Football. Cowboys at Steelers. This almost sounds like it could be a match from the 1970s. Both teams are coming off big wins last week, and it’ll be interesting to see who comes away the win this week. Dallas seems like they need the win a little more, although it’s unlikely they’ll catch up to the Giants at this point in the season. 3:15 PM CT Fox
5. 60 Minutes. A visit to Saudi Arabia is included in this look on America’s independence on foreign oil. Artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel is profiled as well. 6:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)
6. Ty Pennington: Behind the Scenes. An “extreme” look at Ty’s own homelife, which also includes behind-the-scenes footage and bloopers from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Ty also takes gifts to military families. 6:00 PM CT ABC
7. The Amazing Race. It’s the finale of season 13, with three teams left – Nick and Starr, Ken and Tina, and the Frat Boys, Andrew and Dan. Who’s going to take the win? I’m counting the Frat Boys out at this point, although I do like them. I just don’t think this is the right time for all their mistakes. 7:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)
8. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. After the background on Ty in the hour before, he and his team help a teacher with a heart condition and her husband, a mechanic with severe arthritis in his hand. They visit Niagara Falls while they wait to have their home redone. 7:00 PM CT ABC
9. The Cutting Edge. A movie teaming a hockey player and figure skater for the Winter Olympics. It’s directed by Paul Michael Glaser. 7:00 PM CT CW
10. Sunday Night Football. Redskins at Ravens. The three times these teams have met, the games have been decided by a touchdown or less. The Redskins are coming off a big loss to the Giants, while the Ravens are coming off a big win against the Bengals. Kee your eye on Baltimore’s trick plays. 7:15 PM CT NBC
11. The Simpsons. After a poker game, Mr. Burns walks away with the win, and a basketball team which he relocates to Springfield. His plans for a new arena will be upsetting a bee colony, which is in turn upsetting to Lisa. 7:30 PM CT Fox
12. Front of the Class. A young man with Tourette’s Syndrome tries to become a techer in order to help teach acceptance of other with disabilites. Based on a true story. 8:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)
13. Desperate Housewives. Lynette protects her son, Carlos realizes the sacrifices of Gaby’s family, Bree accepts Andrew for who he is and wants him to know, Katherine finds happiness, Susan and Mike realize things about their relationship, and Dave is losing it. 8:00 PM CT ABC
14. Encino Man. If you can forget that Pauly Shore is in this movie, it’s actually a fun flick. Matt Dillon and Sean Astin also star in this movie of two high school kids that uncover and thaw out a caveman, then try introduce him to their lifestyle. 8:30 PM CT Encore West
15. Brothers & Sisters. A Walters family Thanksgiving gathering is held up by scheduling conflicts until a medical problem involving Tommy and Julia’s daughter brings them all toghether. Celebrity Today helps sort all this out after the show. 9:00 PM CT ABC
