Dancing With the Stars - It’s Official! Brooke Wins!
On second thought, I think I should be leaving out those exclamation points in the title, as there really wasn’t much excitement to the Dancing With the Stars final result tonight, and in fact it was rather anti-climactic by the time all was said and done.
Not only did we figure that Brooke Burke would win, but she had the look of a cat that ate the canary all night. Either she just thought so much of herself that she figured she would win or she was tipped off by someone early on that she would be the winner. And if the latter is the case, then she should stick to modeling, hosting reality shows, and dancing, as acting isn’t really her calling.
Throughout the night, every time Brooke was on camera she had a completely elated look. It wasn’t a look of “I’m just so happy to be here,” but a look of “Wow, I can’t believe I’m going to be winning this whole thing in an hour.” It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I can appreciate Brooke’s fine technique like the rest of them, and there’s no question that she’s the best in technique, but to show us that she knows that too? It just took any fun out of it and made me wonder why she couldn’t be as gracious as those that have been voted off the show so far.
I’m surprised, too, that Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer came in third place. With them tied last night with Warren Sapp and Kym Johnston, it means the difference between second and third place was between viewer votes. I know Warren was popular with the fans, but I just thought Lance would be more so, especially after last week. To me he offered what both Warren and Brooke did, yet both together, in that he had good technique as well as performance. I think Lance and Lacey screwed themselves a little by doing hip hop as it wasn’t going to attract every fan to vote and didn’t have cool tricks like the other two freestyles. Lance and Lacey had the edge going into the freestyle, and they lost it there.
Dancing With the Stars is now done for another season, and that’s a shame, as it was one of their better seasons, if just in the level of celebrity, if not also in the fact that they added new things and didn’t become complacent. They had a lot of firsts, by adding new dancers, and having their oldest contestant yet. Yet, they seemed to lose a little momentum after Cloris Leachman left, despite the fact it was time for her to leave. The problem was she reminded the show and the judges not to take themselves too seriously, a lesson which Brooke seemed to forget throughout the night tonight.

Agree they were the best three couples for the final. Thought Toni wasn’t well served by her partner, especially in that over-costumed debacle. You say the show slacked off when Cloris left? I couldn’t STAND her after her first 15 minutes of fame, turned the show off immediately each time she was ’saved’ for another week. I love Warren but think Lance deserved 2nd.
I’m not sure what you mean saying Toni wasn’t well-served by her partner, as Toni didn’t dance last night because of her recent surgery. Do you mean someone else?
