Grey’s Anatomy Goes To The Ghost

Published by laurabelle at 12:00 pm under Commentary Edit This

LauraBelle is in need of a bit of a breather this weekend, so she asked me to come over here to talk to you about another one of my favorite dramas. LauraBelle is your source for all things in the reality world, and I’m your source for all things dramatic with weekly recaps over at Celebrity Today. This week, I’m going to talk to you a bit about one of my favorites, Grey’s Anatomy. This series is currently in its fifth season, and it has hit a few bumps along the way. Last season was cut short like many other series because of the writer’s strike.

This series has a bit of buzz though, and not because of what is happening on screen, but behind the scenes. Over the summer, Katherine Heigl started things with her not submitting her name for consideration to the Emmy Awards. She said she wasn’t given enough to work with. This started a fire storm of comments from around the net. Everything from her being called a diva to people agreeing with her. The next big story broke earlier this month when it was announced that Brooke Smith had been quickly fired, and the story line with her and Callie would be cut. No more lesbians on Grey’s Anatomy.

Now, the series is doing it yet again. This one has people talking and scratching their heads. Some are wondering if this will spell the end of Katherine Heigl’s time at Grey’s Anatomy. They have brought back her love, Denny. He died at the end of the season two with a story line that brought in big ratings for the series. It won Heigl an Emmy. However, he died. He should be dead. He shouldn’t be sitting on Izzie’s bed, and he shouldn’t be following her around. Okay, yes he is a ghost. They can do that. We’ve seen that on other series. Ghost Whisperer, anyone?

However, the writers at Grey’s Anatomy have taken it one step further. On this week’s episode, Izzie and Denny had sex. Everyone heard Izzie having some hot time, but no one knew what was the source. Alex called it her solo time. If Denny is dead, how can he have sex with Izzie? That is one question on the minds of all Grey’s Anatomy fans this week. Other fans want Denny dead and back gone. No matter what they feel about it, they will all have a bit of time to think about it because Grey’s Anatomy won’t air next week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. When it returns, you can find out all about what happens next at Celebrity Today.

I liked Alex’s comment. I do like Denny but to bring him back as a ghost is overdoing it. Just as ghost whisperer - I don’t understand the writing team. Why have them die to bring them back as ghosts? We see it on daytime soaps but to do that prime time I think shows a lack of writing expertise.

I am not fond of the storyline…but Heigl is hitting it out of the park. She is making the ridiculous believable with some excellent performances.
