What’s Hot On TV List - Good Afternoon to Be a Couch Potato

1227urlacher.jpgWith a cold snap going through the Midwest, it’s a good day to settle in and watch the tube, be it football or movies. In the second half of the pro football season, we have some pivotal games today. And if you’re not into football, you can spend your afternoon with two classic movies one a new one, and another a much older classic, Juno and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

1. NFL Football: Titans at Bears.
I’m worried about my Bears this week. Last week, Chicago barely beat the winless Detroit Lions, but this week, they’re playing the unbeaten Tennessee. I’m taking in a deep breath that I won’t let out until after the game. 12:00 PM CT CBS

2. Juno. For me, this was the best movie of 2007. Ellen Page should have won the Oscar. She was just such a natural. The movie was just so … real. It was funny, poignant, etc., and it wouldn’t have been if Page wouldn’t have carried off her role as well as she did. 1:05 PM CT Cinemax West

3. NASCAR Racing: Sprint Cup In Phoenix. In The Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, Jimmy Johnson still has the lead, but Carl Edwards is moving in, now only 106 points away. It was Johnson who won this race handily April 12th. 2:45 PM CT ABC

4. Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?
It’s the original with Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, and Sydney Poitier. Classic, and Tracy’s last film, in which he was already ill. 3:00 PM CT Turner Class Movies.

5. NFL Football: Colts at Steelers. Both Indianapolis and Pittsburgh seem to be on a good streak right now, and I have a feeling the teams are actually closer than their records of 4-4 and 6-2 make it seem. 3:15 PM CT CBS

6. 60 Minutes. Reports on the strategists that helped Barack Obama win the election, electronic refuse being sent to China and the harm it causes, and a profile of Ted Turner. 6:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)

7. America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Baseball bloopers, fireworks, a fake mouse scare in the kitchen, a dog with a butterfly on its nose, and a fish, man, and alligator in a battle. Wouldn’t it be better if some of these were combined? 6:30 PM CT ABC

8. The Amazing Race. It should be interesting this week to see what Ken and Tina can do to get out of last place, especially considering the punishment from the non-elimination week last week. Worse yet, we know she’ll be nagging him the whole way. 7:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)

9. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The renovation of two places in Missouri, one home belonging to the mother of twins with birth defects, and a coffee shop owned by a man with cerebral palsy who employs disabled people. 7:00 PM CT ABC

10. Simpsons. The family takes a vacation to the woods, bringing back memories, with Homer and Margie recalling when they were dating, and Bart and Lisa remembering when they were much younger. 7:00 PM CT Fox (time approx. after football)

11. Sunday Night Football: Giants at Eagles. Two more well-matched teams with New York (7-1) and Philadelphia (5-3). Giants are second in the league with number of sacks this season, and last year sacked Donavon McNabb fifteen times in two separate games. This year, though the Eagles O Line seems to be protecting him much better. 7:15 PM CT NBC

12. King of the Hill. The faculty at the middle school is in trouble because of the “No Child Left Behind” with the students not doing well on their standardized tests. The principal finds a way to get around the law, affecting Bobby. 7:30 PM CT Fox (time approx. after football)

13. Cold Case. A toy rocket with the name of a 12 year old boy murdered in 1969 is found, reopening the investigation. 8:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)

14. Desperate Housewives. Lynette and Tom find out the truth about Porter, Gaby wonders if Carlos’ client has ulterior motives, Mrs. McCluskey’s sister finds out something disturbing about Dave, being weak could bring Bree much embarrassment, Katharine has a big secret discovered, and Susan discovers Jackson’s true passion. 8:00 PM CT ABC

15. Family Guy. Peter gets a new talking dog to help out Brian, since he’s 56 in dog years. But Brian isn’t too happy about the situation. 8:00 PM CT Fox

16. American Dad. Debbie loses a very dirty election for class president, causing Steve to see revenge, which doesn’t go well at all. 8:30 PM CT Fox

17. The Unit. Jonas’ daughter is kidnapped in Iraq, causing Jonas the others to go find her. Once there, they find she has been moved to Syria, and crossing that border is considered an act of war by the U.S. Mack plans revenge against Col. Ryan because of his affair with Tiffy. 9:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)

18. Brothers & Sisters. Tommy and Julia’s anniversary night is one to be remembered, and the romance between Justin and Rebecca encounters a twist, while Kitty and Robert’s planned adoption encounters a problem. Celebrity Today will have a great recap of this after the show airs. 9:00 PM CT ABC

Great list and blog. Unfortunately, I am a former Lions fan, currently at 0-8. I have adopted a couple of other teams to keep an eye on until my hapless team arises from the dead.

I like the looks of your blog. I am new at Today, TVFan123. Take care.

Welcome to Today, TVFan! Sorry about the season your Lions are having. As a Bears fan, though, I definitely understand!
