The Bachelorette - Too Sad to Say I Told You So
There wasn’t anyone out there, not even the most romantic of viewers, that thought Deanna Pappas and Jesse Csincsak were going to make it. By the end of The Bachelorette, we didn’t know what the heck she was looking for, and it was looking like she didn’t have any better idea than we did. Graham seemed to many to be her perfect match, yet he wasn’t the committing type, so she ditched him not wanting to get hurt again. Jeremy bonded with her over the deaths of their mothers, and Jason bonded over wanting a family, but she eventually chose Jesse, because he was so different than anyone she had ever dated.
You all know the punchline at this point, after watching countless Bachelor and Bachelorette unions fall apart. Deanna and Jesse are no more. But before you roll your eyes, you need to see the emotions in Jesse as he explains what happens. Appearing on Extra, Jesse said he went to pick up Deanna at the airport, and she told him while they were picking up her luggage that she loved him, but wasn’t in love with him.
Let’s examine this a little more closely. This woman who garnered all of our sympathies by saying it wasn’t right the way Brad Womack had treated her, telling her he just couldn’t tell her he loved her and would have to say goodbye, has now told a guy she loved him, was choosing him, accepted his marriage proposal, set a date, then told him she loved him but wasn’t in love with him … while picking up her baggage at the airport.
Jesse went on to say Deanna had told him she wasn’t willing to try anymore. She was moving to Los Angeles, and while he wanted to pursue couples’ counseling, she was unwilling. While he admits he is still in love with her and would take her back, since everyone makes mistakes, he does question her motives, as she seemed to only want to kiss him or hold onto him in front of the cameras. They had agreed to make a statement together, yet she broke the news alone first anyway.
Where it gets really hard to take is when Jesse is asked what he would say to Deanna right now if he could. He replies he would tell her he is sorry for whatever he did that has made her not want to be with him. He breaks down at this point and can barely continue. Say what you want, but in my opinion it’s worse to lead this guy on for a months and set a wedding date, rather than just be told at the end of filming it doesn’t look like it’ll work out. Even though we knew it was coming, it’s heartbreaking watching him. You can see for yourself here .
In happier Bachelor/Bachelorette news, Bachelor Travis Stork has found love it appears, but certainly not with Sarah Stone who he picked out of the twenty-five women made available to him. He’s been seen out and about with American Idol Carrie Underwood. Bachelor Bob Guiney ditched Estella Gardinier, and later found true love with Rebecca Budig, who hosted The Bachelor repeats on cable and also appears on All My Children. They seem deliriously happy.
Maybe that’s the solution to finding true love via The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. Choose one of the 25, later break up with them, and once you have a little fame, get together with another star.
