American Idol - Cowell Told to Pack Bags, as He’s Going Home
Simon Cowell seems to delight in telling contestants on American Idol to pack their bags, as they’ll be going home tomorrow night. Someone now has said this to him, and worse than coming from the judge of a reality TV show, it’s coming from his longtime girlfriend, Terri Seymour.
Not that many of us are surprised, but Seymour is officially done with Cowell, and People magazine was reportedly told by his rep that she broke it off with him by phone, of all the cold things. The 34-year-old apparently is hearing that familiar ticking clock and knew he wasn’t ever going to make an honest woman out of her. She wanted children, but it didn’t exactly fit into the 48-year-old Cowell’s lifestyle.
The National Enquirer is taking it a step further, mentioning not only Seymour’s desire to have kids, but also mentioning some affairs that Cowell allegedly had. There have been rumors that he had an affair with model and socialite Jasmine Lennard in 2006, and this past summer there was yet another rumor of of an affair with someone associated with American Idol.
I think I would have been more surprised to hear that Cowell was marrying Seymour than him having affairs. He just seems to be the quintessential confirmed bachelor. Fans are reporting him to be too self-centered for marriage and kids, but I don’t even know if it’s so much that, but just his lifestyle wouldn’t support that.
Here’s my additional thought … what will this do to the sexual tension between Cowell and Paula Abdul? Sure, they joke around all the time, but you can tell there’s a shred of interest there on both their sides. Of course, she won’t even be the only woman siting next to him at the table now that American Idol has added Kara DioGuardi as the fourth judge. That could complicate the matters some.
At any rate, I don’t think Cowell will be spending many nights alone, considering how many female auditioners tell him he’s even more good-looking in person. He has to have women throwing themselves at him left and right. Which is fine, but they need to not delude themselves thinking he’ll start a family with them someday, as if he didn’t settle down with Seymour, I don’t see him ever doing it.
