What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Good Football Viewing
There are some great NFL football games on today. Some pretty well-matched teams that are in the top of their divisions. And after that is the World Series. There’s no Sunday Night Football game on tonight, and I can only imagine it’s so as not to conflict with baseball, which is kind of nice of them when you think about it, but I’m sure it has more to do with contracts than being nice.
1. Meet the Press. Sen. John McCain is on discussing his candidacy for the presidential election. Hopefully you got some sleep last night, otherwise it’s going to blend right in with Saturday Night Live. 10:00 AM CT NBC
2. Revenge of the Nerds. If you’re totally not into football, this is the movie for you. Even iffy are into football, it’s still a really funny flick. 11:30 AM CT AMax E
3. NFL Football. Cardinals at Panthers. Both of these teams are leading their divisions, with Arizona 4-2 and Carolina at 5-2, however, Arizona is in a much weaker division The lowest performing team in Carolina’s division is the Saints at 3-4. Carolina’s offense will be the one to watch. 12:00 PM CT Fox
4. NASCAR Racing: Sprint Cup in Hampton, GA. At the Pep Boys Auto 500, Jimmie Johnson is still leading the pack, 152 points ahead of the nearest competition. 1:00 PM CT ABC
5. NFL Football. Giants at Steelers. Again, it’s another game between two teams at the top of their divisions, both at 5-1. And this time, it’s Pittsburgh in the weaker division. The New York leads the NFL in rushing yards, yet Pittsburgh has the second-ranked rushing defense. 3:15 PM CT Fox
6. 60 Minutes. Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens is profiled, as well as American philanthropist Gregory C. Carr. Also included is a report on credit-default swaps. 6:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)
7. America’s Funniest Home Videos. Included clips are birthday snafus and a couple trying to catch a squirrel in their house. The most irritating thing to me is while I think it’s uninteresting and nothing new, if it ends up being on the TV, I still laugh my ass off. 6:00 PM CT ABC
8. In Harm’s Way. The focus of this episode is on people who clear mines. Yeah, I’d say that’s in harm’s way. 6:00 PM CT CW
9. Beetlejuice. A young couple that dies wants their house back from the family that has just bought it and hires Michael Kenton to rid them of their pests. Also included is the most creative use of the song Day-O ever. 6:00 PM CT ABC Family
10. The Amazing Race. The remaining teams travel from New Zealand to Cambodia. I hope Phil got a good visit in with his parents while in New Zealand. 7:00 PM CT CBS (time approx. after football)
11. The 40-Year-Old Virgin. If you love Steve Carell, you’ll love this movie. Once you add in Paul Rude and Seth Roger, with a Carell/Jude Papaw script, you’ll be laughing all night. 7:00 PM CT NBC
12. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Ty and team rebuild the dilapidated, mold-infested house of a boy that has survived leukemia and lung transplants and his deacon father and mother. 7:00 PM CT ABC
13. Valentine. Phoebe tries to reunite two former bookstore owners who lost their passion for book as well as each other. Danny is warned by Ari that mysterious forces are threatening the family. 7:00 PM CT CW
14. World Series: Game 4: Rays at Phillies. Will the teams be even at 2-2 at the end of tonight’s game? 7:00 PM CT Fox
15. Cold Case. A new probe reveals that in 1951, a Marine hadn’t gone AWOL on his last night of shore leave, suddenly dying; he was defending another soldier on the night he died. 8:00 PM CT CBS
16. Desperate Housewives. Dave talks Susan into throwing a 70th birthday party for Mrs. McCluskey, but that isn’t exactly what Mrs. McCluskey wants. Jackson wants to get things going with Susan, Gaby fears another pregnancy, and Tom informs Lynette he sold the pizza place. We also learn how the bond between Bree and Katherine came about. 8:00 PM CT ABC
17. The Unit. The team agrees to the demands of a nuclear scientist who is refusing to reveal vital info about an impending terrorist attack on a major U.S. city. Molly, Kim, and Tiffy work undercover with Jonas. 9:00 PM CT CBS
18. Brothers & Sisters. Rebecca and the Walkers aren’t too happy to find out Holly has been searching for Ryan. Kevin goes on his first social outing with Scotty’s conservative parents. Interestingly, this episode is being directed by Chad Lowe, brother of Rob who plays Sen. McCallister. Celebrity Today has even more insights into this show. 9:00 PM CT ABC
