What’s Hot On TV Tonight - The Starter Wives

Published by laurabelle at 12:15 am under Programming Edit This

brinkleycook.jpgI just couldn’t seem to miss the fact that while Debra Messing is starring in a new series on USA called The Starter Wife about a woman whose husband leaves her for another woman, that Christie Brinkley’s ex is being interviewed on 20/20 about his divorce from Brinkley after he had an affair with a younger woman, a much younger woman. Is truth stranger than fiction?

1. The Education of Little Tree. I never saw this film, but I did read the book, suggested by my mom when my son was an infant, and it was marvelous. It’s a coming of age type of thing for a young Native American boy. 12:15 PM CT HBO Family

2. The Bonnie Hunt Show. Jon Crier of Two and Half Men is on (although my favorite role of his will always be as Ducky in Pretty In Pink), and Gloria Reuben of ER are the guests, as well as Tim Reid and Tom Dreesen, who have now coauthored a book together. Syndicated, check local listings.

3. The Ellen deGeneres Show. Christina Applegate and Sheryl Crow, both breast cancer survivors, are Ellen’s guests, talking about breast cancer awareness. I think it’s great for them to be able to do this, especially with Christina being so young, just to show it could happen at any age. Syndicated, check local listings.

4. MLB Playoff Game 2: Dodgers at Phillies. Game two of this series, after Philadelphia won the first game, 3-2. 3:00 PM CT Fox

5. Ghost Whisperer. Melinda finds deep secrets within her group of classmates when one of them unexpectedly dies. 7:00 PM CT CBS

6. America’s Toughest Jobs. Tonight, the remaining contestants take on monster trucks, installing 800 pound tires. They’re judged on creativity and safety. Safety, I definitely get, but creativity? 7:00 PM CT NBC

7. Wife Swap. Honestly, the way they match these families up just cracks me up. A 300-pound bench pressing mom swaps families with a mom who gives tea parties. Honestly, just the idea of it all makes me giggle. 7:00 PM CT ABC

8. Everybody Hates Chris. Chris makes a deal to help out an androgynous Home-Ec student in the kitchen if he in return hooks up Chris with a certain classmate. Tasha’s talkative mom, the ex-con, comes home and wants to be Rochelle’s new best friend. 7:00 PM CT CW

9. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? Of all the contestants that should do well on this show, we have the ultimate Jeopardy champion, Ken Jennings. So he knows all these things we don’t know, but does he know what a 5th grader knows? 7:00 P M CT Fox

10. The Game. Melanie approaches Janay to see if she’s really carrying Derwin’s baby. To deal with being separated from Jason, Kelly plans a girls’ night out. Malik tells the truth to his mom about his marriage.

11. MLB Playoff Game 1: Boston at Tampa Bay. Game one of this series. 7:30 PM CT TBS

12. The Ex List. Bella gets together with an ex who is a sports nut, but formerly a slacker. Cyrus invents a drinking game that features searching for old flames online. 8:00 PM CT CBS

16. Starter Wife. This season premiere stars Debra Messing as the ex-wife of a studio exec who says goodbye to the good life and decides to focus on raising her daughter and a new career as a writer, but is challenged somewhat by the things she is finding she has to give up. 8:00 PM CT USA

19. 20/20. Christie Brinkley’s ex, the one that is not Billy Joel, discusses what went wrong in his marriage, as well as his porn habit and why he had an affair with a teenager. According to USA Today , Brinkley went to court to block her ex from allowing their kids to see the interview. 9:00 PM CT ABC
