What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Comedies and Drama Fill the Night

0000050974_20080815115405.jpgWith the exception of the continuation of The Biggest Loser, interrupted by the Presidential Debates last night, primetime is filled with comedies and dramas. Of course, America’s Next Top Model is on as well, but Tyra’s aim certainly seems to be to make a comedy out of it lately, and if you wan to push it, I suppose The Biggest Loser could be looked at as a drama  with the families being the focus this season.

1. Regis and Kelly. Debra Messing is on promoting Starter Wife premiering this week, Bill O’Reilly, (we know what’s on his mind lately), and the Project Runway finalists. Syndicated, check local listings.

2. Fletch.
I really wish Chevy Chase was still making movies, or at least starring in them I should say. He stars in this one as a private investigator that assumes different identities. 9:15 AM CT Outer Max

3. Dr. Phil. The OJ Simpson verdict is discussed, and Phil’s guests are the Goldmans, who definitely have an axe to grind with the ex football player. They must at some point figure this nightmare will never end for them. Hey, do you think he found the real killer yet? Syndicated, check local listings.

4. New Adventures of Old Christine.
An article about Barb appears in a black business journal, generating extra interest and more customers at the gym. 7:00 PM CT CBS

5. Knight Rider.
Arriving in Mexico, Zoe and Mike masquerade as honeymooning surfers as they go undercover to stop terrorist weapons from being smuggled into the U.S. 7:00 PM CT NBC

6. Pushing Daisies. Ned, Chuck, and Emerson hunt for a missing teen, leading them to a circus that has all too high of a mortality rate. It gives a whole new meaning to “running away to join the circus”, doesn’t it? 7:00 PM CT ABC

7. America’s Next Top Model.
The models get instruction from Tyra on how to discover their best pose, and also get down to their real emotions during a fake awards show. 7:00 PM CT CW

8. Bones. The remains of a community’s pastor are discovered, as Booth and Brennan investigate, but the two different areas in which the body are found lead to different directions in the case. 7:00 PM CT Fox

9. Gary Unmarried. Once Gary realizes he won’t have to pay alimony anymore once his ex-wife is married, he pushes her fiance to set a wedding date. 7:30 PM CT CBS

10. Criminal Minds. When Prentiss and Reid go undercover to investigate possible child abuse in a cult, they’re held captive. How’s this for a switch in roles? While some of his ex-90210 cronies are appearing in the new series, Luke Perry is appearing here as the cult leader. 8:00 PM CT CBS

11. The Biggest Loser: Families. This is part two of the episode that started last night and broke for the Presidential Debate. One of the players talks to her trainer about issues in the family. This just might explain the extra weight and why it’s there within the family. 8:00 PM CT NBC

12. Private Practice. As the doctors look at the practice and new ways to bring in patients and money to bring them out of bankruptcy, Addison and Sam hold a hostile takeover. Violet and Cooper’s friendship comes into question, and a family fights for a fertility treatment considered by some as unethical. 8:00 PM CT ABC

13. ‘Til Death. A double dose again with the second half hour still not filled after the early cancellation of Do Not Disturb. Circumcision is the subject as Joy appreciates Kenny being willing to do it for his girlfriend, but Eddie disagrees, taking him to a bris to possibly change his mind. In the second episode, Joy finds out Eddie has been secretly going to a deli for a meatball sandwich for twenty years. 8:00 PM CT Fox

14. Inside the NFL. A look back at the week in football, as well as a week ahead. 8:00 PM CT Showtime East.

15. CSI: NY. Mac is on a flight headed to Washington, D.C. when they find the air marshal has been murdered. He believes the killer is onboard. 9:00 PM CT CBS

16. Lipstick Jungle. Nico worries about going public with her relationship with Kirby and doesn’t get along with the new CEO. Victory’s new romance meets with interference from Joe, and Wendy gets involved in a new project. 9:00 PM CT NBC

17. Dirty Sexy Money. The Darlings deal with everything that happens after a fire, including a death, and an arrest is made in the Dutch George murder case. Brian has a conversation with Tripp about naming a successor. Noel’s real occupation is discovered by Jeremy. 9:00 PM CT ABC
