What’s Hot On TV Tonight - The Race is Awn!
Finally The Amazing Race is back on. It seems like we waited forever for this. With the writer’s strike last year and networks scrambling, CBS had decided to add an additional season of Big Brother to the schedule, taking this show away from it’s normal winter/spring time slot. I won’t complain, though, as I’m just glad it’s back on.
1. We Are Marshall. A great football movie to get you in the mood for the Sunday afternoon action. Matthew McConaughay stars, and he’s pretty much a goober the whole time in this true story as a football coach who takes over a college team the season after the whole team had perished in an airplane crash. 8:15 AM CT Wmax
2. The Goonies. It’s more or less a Steven Spielberg adventure move for the younger set, about kids on a treasure hunt. Twenty plus years after the fact, it’s fun to watch and find out who these young faces grew up to be. And one quote. “Rocky … Road?” 9:05 AM CT TBS
3. The Week With George Stephanopoulus. John McCain is on, and it’s interesting that he doesn’t seem too busy to make this show. The panelists will be Newt Gingrich George Will, Robert Reich, and Steven Pearlstein. 9:30 AM CT ABC
4. Meet the Press. Former President Bill Clinton is on, and we know he’s not too busy. 10:00 AM CT NBC
5. Once. A real love story between two real people that never even have anything physical between each other. The music in it is fantastic, as two singer/musicians take the leads, instead of two actors singing in the movie. 10:30 AM CT HBO Signature
6. NFL Football: Falcons at Panthers. Depending on what Tampa Bay does later against Green Bay, this game could decide the lead of the NFC South. One of these two teams will either have the lead of the division independently, or will be sharing it with Tampa Bay. Currently all three teams are tied 2-1. 12:00 PM CT CBS
7. NFL Football: Redskins at Cowboys. One of these teams heads the NFC Eastern Division, the other’s in the cellar, yet they’re only separated by one win. Dallas is tied with the Giants at 3-0 and the Redskins are tied with the Eagles at 2-1. The game could help decide a little clarity in the division. 3:15 PM CT Fox
8. 60 Minutes. An interview with the Treasury Secretary which should prove to be interesting, and the general in charge of the military forces in Iraq. 6:00 PM CT CBS (Time approx. after football)
9. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Season premiere featuring the redo of a home for a mom with fifteen kids after assuming responsibility of her sister’s kids after her death. 6:00 PM CT ABC
10. The Amazing Race. Season premiere with interesting characters including a team of married beekeepers, a team of comic book aficionados, and a retired NFL player with his estranged wife. 7:00 PM CT CBS (Time approx. after football)
11. The Simpsons. This season opener has Homer taking a stab at being a bounty hunter and teaming up with Ned Flanders. I haven’t watched The Simpsons in a few years, and this sounds good even to me. 7:00 PM CT Fox (Time approx. after football)
12. Sunday Night Football: Eagles at Bears. Philadelphia is mired in a division with all winning records, and Chicago is in the middle of the pack of a division that really seems to be struggling. Nevertheless, I can’t go against my Bears, and will be praying for a win. 7:15 PM CT NBC
13. King of the Hill. Another season opener, bringing me to be shocked that it’s been on the air for thirteen seasons. Bill gets diabetes. 7:30 PM CT Fox (Time approx. after football)
14. Cold Case. The season opener has the team investigating the murder of the sister of a college football star on the eve of a championship game. 8:00 PM CT (Time approx. after football)
15. Desperate Housewives. Season opener with Susan trying to hide her relationship with a new boyfriend while Edie shows up showing off her new man, and Gaby is worried over her maternal skills. 8:00 PM CT
16. Family Guy. This season premiere has Brian falling in love with a woman that he has met in a book store. Meredith Baxter makes a voice cameo. 8:00 PM CT Fox (Time approx. after football)
17. American Dad. Yet another season premiere featuring Rogers’ 1600th birthday. 8:00 PM CT Fox (Time approx. after football)
18. The Unit. A season premiere that has the team attempting to stop the assassination of a president-elect and vide president elect. This seems to reflect the current mood of the country. 9:00 PM CT CBS (Time approx. after football)
19. Brothers & Sisters. The Walker kids try to contact a long lost relative without Nora finding out in this season opener. 9:00 PM CT ABC
