Dancing With the Stars - Everyone’s Thinking the Same Thing

Published by laurabelle at 8:40 pm under Commentary Edit This

31.jpgWatching Dancing With the Stars tonight, I thought it was funny that I could tell that the stars were thinking the same things I was thinking. They were just as shocked by some that stayed and weren’t surprised, but didn’t necessarily agree, with who went home.

Last night I predicted that while Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas had the lowest score, they weren’t going anywhere just yet, as she is extremely popular with many of the fans. She’s just so much fun, we don’t want her to go yet. The next two couples with the lowest scores were Kim Kardashian and Mark Ballas, and Ted McGinley and Inna Brayer. Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo came in second on both nights, yet I don’t think she’s necessarily that popular for people to want to vote for her.

Before we find out who’s leaving, though, we have to sit through two musical guests and a man on the street interview bit with Adam Carolla from last season’s Dancing With the Stars. I can’t decide whether all this is necessary in the results show or not. American Idol is changing their results show back to just a half hour next year, so could Dancing With the Stars do the same? America’s Got Talent is already just a half hour. They get it and get down to business. I kind of enjoy that. I tend to think, though, that Dancing With the Stars might need all that fluff. Tonight we had performances from The Jonas Brothers as well as Jesse McCartney. Is the teeny bopper set really who’s watching the show?

43.jpgKim and Mark were declared safe very early on, and Cloris and Corky were as well. So that left only Ted and Inna out of the bottom three couples. Once only Ted and Inna wer left out of the bottom three from last night, everyone got a little more tense, as they realized if not them, then who? Susan Lucci suddenly got very worried, as did Toni Braxton. Rocco deSpirito and Karina Smirnoff were declared safe and no one knew what to think.

This left four couples on the stage, but as they remind us over and over, they aren’t necessarily the bottom four. They didn’t even need to tell us, as we knew Cody Linley and Julianne Hough as well as Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer were safe and they were. It left just Ted/Inna and Toni/Alec on the stage. With Toni and Alec being second of twelve couples with the judges’ votes, that would mean the viewers would have had to really not vote for her at all to move her down to the bottom of the stack.

Sure enough, it was Ted and Inna who left us tonight. Ted continued to talk on and on about how much of a man’s man he is, and feel this proves something about men and dancing. Or, maybe it just proves that an 82 year old has more popularity.
