What’s Hot On TV Tonight - Talent, Game Shows, and Nightmares in Primetime
Fox has the only new programming on network primetime TV tonight, other than the America’s Got Talent results show and Flashpoint in the third hour or programming, and nothing premieres tonight. Is it that wrong to give us all the new programming at once? Why do they have to stretch it out over two months?
1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Another of my favorite 80s movies. This one has quotes galore, making it even more enticing. Every time my husband and I are in a restaurant with tall tables, we do “The lady will have the knockwurst …” And I can’t listen to Led Zeppelin without thinking of this movie. 7:45 AM CT HBO Zone
2. The Bonnie Hunt Show. Bonnie’s going to have a bunch of interesting people on. She’ll have Teri Garr on, and really, who doesn’t love Teri Garr? She’ll also have Cesar Millan on, aka the Dog Whisperer. Whoever has dogs loves that guy. Bonnie will also have on the winner of Big Brother 10, Dan. I know who doesn’t love that guy, and it’s the Big Brother jury, but they loved him enough to hand him $500,000. Syndicated, check local listings.
3. Martian Child. And if you’re still looking for someone to love, how about this orphaned boy that thinks he comes from Mars, as it’s more comfortable than realizing his real parents didn’t want him. And, of course, everyone loves the guy trying to adopt him, John Cusack. 2:00 PM CT HBO Signature
4. The Ellen deGeneres Show. Benjamin Bratt from The Cleaner will be on, and I’m not even going to ask how many out there love him. Also guesting is a 10 year old inspirational speaker. A 10 year old? I’m sure if Ellen has him on he must be really something, but it’s just a little hard to fathom. Syndicated, check local listings.
5. America’s Got Talent. Tonight we find out the five that are moving on to the finals. It would seem Neal E. Boyd, Queen Emily, Nuttin But Stringz, and Eli Mattson have a lock on the first four positions, but that final one is a tossup. At least one favorite is going to leave tonight. It could get really tough if little 4 year old Kaitlyn Maher is one of them to leave. 7:00 PM CT NBC
6. Hole In the Wall. This Japanese game show import is the only thing on in the first hour of programming that’s new if you don’t care at all if America has talent or not. You can either enjoy others’ talent or laugh at others’ expense at this time. Take your pick. 7:00 PM CT Fox
7. Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon Ramsay checks out an Italian family-run restaurant in Michigan. Why are the ones thare are having trouble getting along always families? If your dad asks you to cook, serve, or bartend in his new restaurant, say no and save the family harmony. 8:00 PM CT Fox
8. Good Will Hunting. A good alternate if the few other choices on primetime that are new aren’t to your liking. This is a great one showing that it isn’t always so easy for the smart guys. It’s also a great buddy film, although very atypical. 7:00 PM CT TNT
9. Flashpoint. The only first run programming on the networks at this time. The rescue of a kidnapped girl from a booby-trapped house. 9:00 PM CT CBS
10. The Tonight Show. Dane Cook and Kristen Bell. Dane is out promoting Mt Best Friend’s Girl which has been promoted very heavily this week by his fellow actors. Regardless, I’ll be there in the theaters on opening day. 10:35 PM CT NBC
11. Last Call With Carson Daly. Meghan McCain, John McCain’s daughter, who runs a blog talking about life on the campaign trail as well as fashion and pop culture. It could be interesting no matter what side your politics fall on. 12:35 AM CT NBC

Heroes premiers next Monday and they’re promising this season good will battle evil with it opening four years into the future. They have previews of it online at nbc.com as well as episodes from last season. Those are available on iTunes as well. Full episodes of Terminator are available there as well, as well as at fox.com
I am going to have to watch The Cleaner this year. I caught a repeat the other night and liked the show.

I’ve caught it before too and liked it. That’s one point to me doing this daily list, to remember all the other great shows out there. Too often I get caught up just turning on the major networks. But A&E, USA, and some others really have some great series on.
