What’s Hot On TV Tonight, As One Ends, Another Two Begin
Tonight we have one summer show ending and two returning shows premiering. Big Brother will finally crown a winner, either Memphis or Dan tonight, meaning the return to The Amazing Race and Survivor to the schedule very soon. House and Biggest Loser: Families return to the schedule with new episodes tonight, and the exciting new series, Fringe, is back with its second episode. It’s going to be a good night!
1. Today Show. Allison Sweeney, host of The Biggest Loser, makes an appearance. Also featured are weight-loss tips. They’re going to make it hard to eat breakfast while we watch, aren’t they? 7:00 AM CT NBC
2. Michael. I wouldn’t have thought in sixth grade I would ever like John Travolta any more than I could seeing him in Welcome Back Kotter and listening to his album that I bought with my paper route money. But I absolutely adore him in Michael, a movie about an angel that is the antithesis of what we expect angels to be like. Yet somehow, this movie embodies everything I believe in philosophically. 6:10 AM CT HBO Comedy
3. Bonnie Hunt Show. Apparently Bonnie is continuing her look forward to Dancing With the Stars as Julianne Hough makes an appearance. Rob Estes from 90210 appears as well. Syndicated, check local listings.
4. Ellen deGeneres Show. Kate Hudson is on promoting her new film My Best Friend’s Girl. They seem to be promoting the hell out of this. I hope I don’t get sick of it before I have a chance to see it. Syndicated, check local listings.
5. Biggest Loser: Families. Last season we had pairs facing off against each other that included families and friends. This time it’s all families, parent/child duos as well as husband/wife teams. I so much prefer the individual format of this show as compared to families or pairs, but I’ll give it a shot anyway. This time they start out a little different, too, as Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels surprise the Losers in their homes before starting the show. Do you think they’ll clean out their fridges? 7:00 PM CT NBC
6. 90210. Dixon gets a job at the Peach Pit to help with the family finances and Annie is disappointed by her date with Ethan. Naomi confronts some realizations of her homelife, and Shannen Doherty makes another appearance as Brenda. 7:00 PM CT CW
7. House. In this season opener Wilson returns from an extended leave, but announces he’s leaving the hospital, and House doesn’t like the idea. 7:00 PM CT Fox
8. Big Brother 10. It’s the season finale and we find out the big winner, Memphis or Dan. Hopefully we’ll get to hear more from those on the jury and those evicted beforehand, but with only an hour show, it doesn’t look like we will. 8:00 PM CT CBS
9. Fringe. The trio of Dr. Bishop, Peter, and Olivia continues to work together, this time trying to solve a case of a pregnancy that only lasts a few hours and produces a rapidly aging baby. I watched the premiere, and let’s just say this show is freaky. 8:00 PM CT Fox
10. Primetime: UFOs … Seeing Is Believing. This title says it all. 8:30 PM CT CBS
11. Uncle Buck. I always adored John Candy’s humor, and this has to be the best of the best, not to mention it’s also a great intro into Macauley Culkin before he became involved in the Michael Jackson mess. The little bit where they “meet” each other is a classic, as well as when Buck saves Tia from the party. 9:50 PM CT Encore Wam
