What’s Hot On TV Tonight, Cashing In On The Dark Knight

batman_begins_ver6.jpgThe Dark Knight was undoubtedly, the summer blockbuster, breaking records all over the place, with lots and lots of talk about Oscar nominations, including a posthumous one for Heath Ledger. Tonight, one series decided to get a little of that action for themselves, cashing in on the name, and a network decided any Batman at all would garner some interest at this point and would be good for ratings before they start airing the premieres.

1. Joe’s Apartment. A really cute movie with Jerry O’Connell where cockroaches take over his apartment and bond with him as they movie through musical numbers singing and dancing. This is from 1996, right around the time we realized he was the chubby boy from Stand By Me. 6:45 AM CT Starz

2. Adventures In Babysitting. Yet another classic 80s movie. Elizabeth Shue before she was Leaving Las Vegas. Despite the implausibility of the timing of some of this, there’s also something about it that is so real. I talked with a friend recently about an appearance by Bradley Whitford in the film, and we couldn’t figure out which part he played. I just figured it out perusing IMDB. He played the jerky boyfriend that stood her up. 8:00 AM CT Oxygen

3. Oprah Winfrey. Internet Predators: How Bad Is It? I can’t make up my mind if I really want the answer to this question or not. Syndicated, check local listings.

4. The Bonnie Hunt Show. Cloris Leachman. She was supposed to be on last week, but wasn’t. I’m still waiting to hear her talk about being on Dancing With the Stars at 82 years old. Previews I have seen for this include her asking what Bonnie has done. It appears she has no idea who Bonnie is, which is kind of funny. Syndicated, check local listings.

5. The Ellen deGeneres Show. Ryan Seacrest is on the show, and I’m betting Ellen can get a little info from him on what’s up with the fouth judge. Olympian Jason Slezak, a gold medal winning swimmer is on as well. They had swimmers in Beijing other than Michael Phelps? Syndicated, check local listings.

6. Deal or No Deal. The banker offers a fan of video games a chance at becoming a character in a game, presumably in exchange for winning the cash. It’s not like it’s Sophie’s Choice or anything, but that could be fun to watch him weigh those options. 7:00 PM CT NBC

7. Gossip Girl. Apparently trying to cash in on a little Batman success, they have an episode tonight entitled “The Dark Night.” Notice the missing K, though, as this one is about a citywide blackout. 7:00 PM CT CW

8. Batman Begins. ABC is apparently trying to cash in on The Dark Knight as well, showing a three year old Batman movie. 7:00 PM CT ABC

9. Monday Night Football. Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys. Both teams won big last week, but someone will walk away from this a loser. The New York Giants won yesterday, so this one will decide who shares the division lead position with them. 7:30 PM CT ESPN

10. America’s Toughest Jobs. The contestants will see how they do with logging in Oregon. And here I sit on my couch, blogging. 8:00 PM CT NBC

11. Dateline. The investigation that prevented a large-scope terrorist plot is shown. Also included is how forces stop recruitment by terrorist groups. It’s a good thing they didn’t air this on 9/11, or it would have led to too much panic. 9:00 PM CT NBC

12. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Kate Hudson will be on discussing her new movie, My Best Friend’s Girl. Anyone else have the Cars song going through their head? 10:35 PM CT NBC

13. Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.
Apparently there’s a big push to promote My Best Friend’s Girl, as Jason Biggs makes an appearance here. Apparently he doesn’t rate as high as Hudson who gets to appear on Leno. 11:35 PM CT CBS

14. Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Samuel Jackson will be promoting his new thriller Lakeview Terrace. I don’t know if I’ll be watching the movie, but I’ll be watching him here, because I just like him. 11:35 PM CT NBC
