The Bachelor - This One’s for the I Told You Sos
Don’t you just love being right? I sure do. The story playing out with The Bachelor’s Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas’ public breakup just gets better and better.
After their breakup, it soon came up that Shayne had been seen partying with another guy in Las Vegas shortly the announcement. She now says that she and Matt had already broken up by the time she went to Las Vegas and she was partying as a single girl. He isn’t really commenting on that part, so that could very well be. She seems intent on not wanting to be called a cheater. I can’t say that I blame her.
Now in addition to all that, there’s the little question of who gets to keep the ring. It’s not one of those “one month’s salary” rings they say you should get, but much more, a 2.85-carat Tacori platinum-and-diamond eternity ring. Well, maybe that is one month of Matt’s salary and that’s what business development managers make in London.
Shayne claims she wants to keep the ring for the rest of her life, saying, “It’s safe and clean and in a glass box like a glass slipper.” This is somewhat odd, as it’s not like her and Matt’s relationship was like a fairy tale or anything. Getting even more weird, she claims he is fine with her decision and wants to come over and look it. Why would a guy come over to look at an engagement ring that he bought for someone after they broke up? Does he have visitation or something like it’s a child?
Matt has quite a different view, saying it wasn’t a gift like a television or handbag (Apparently this guy gives great gifts!). “It’s a symbol of marriage that didn’t happen.” He claims they never talked about the ring, and that he thinks neither of them should keep it. He would like to auction off the ring, taking the proceeds and splitting it evenly, with each of them giving their share to their favorite charity. He mentioned that the show paid the $65,000 for the ring, yet it was still his to give away, so he thinks he should have a hand in its decision.
$65,000 … how many charities could use that money right now? He has a point. Yet, isn’t possession nine tenths of the law, or is that just something people like to say in order to keep their hands on something that rightfully doesn’t belong to them? Either way, it’s a huge Told you so moment for all of us. Monkey was never interested in a relationship at all.
