Whats Hot On TV

We’re a week out from Big Brother 10 starting, and we’re gaining information in pieces, bit by bit. According to the TV listings, on Tuesday the cast will be announced on The Early Show, and on Friday we’ll get a house tour. Yet, we do have some early information from reliable sources.

In our Blog Talk Radio show last Thursday for Reality Shack, Carrie Grosvenor revealed to me what has already been leaked out. We know there will be thirteen houseguests and that they will be opposites, like an atheist and a devout Christian, or something like that. Sounds like an episode of Wife Swap. We don’t know if they will be paired up that way, but we can definitely hope they won’t be paired at all. We can also hope that no one knows each other before they were put in the house.

One interesting thing is that it’s been revealed that something major will already have happened before the cast enters the Big Brother house. We don’t know what that would be, if it means someone will be evicted to make an even dozen, or what. Routinely, houseguests are sequestered at a hotel before they enter the house, then several days before the show starts, they enter the house, presumably to give CBS a few days of material to air, so that we don’t just get an hour of them walking around claiming beds and making intros. Perhaps they’ll do something like they did to Wanda and Jonathon on Survivor: Palau and not even give someone a chance to even compete.

Thursday evening, tidbits appeared on realityBBQ.com from an apparent early cast leak. According to Carrie, this source is usually very reliable. It’s not a complete list, but a list of first names along with some tidbits of info on them, some matched, some not. According to this list, we’ll have our oldest houseguest ever with 75-year-old Jerry, a self-proclaimed biggest Big Brother fan and Keesha, 29, a blonde bombshell from … Hooters. And here I was hoping we might go a season without a stripper or Hooters girl.

We’ll also have a recently divorced Korean-American tomboy, a gay rodeo cowboy, a 25-year-old that does not consider himself a bartender (now that’s an anomaly!), a New Orleans socialite, a Pentecostal preacher’s son, a teacher from an all boys Catholic school that swears he would have moved from the country if Hilary became president, and a black mother of three and Obama supporter that lives in a predominantly white community with a “pair of rare twins,” whatever that is. The last two are obviously two of the opposites, and I’m guessing the preacher’s son figures heavily into the opposites, as well as the gay rodeo cowboy.

With those descriptions, it certainly sounds like it could be an exciting season. Let’s hope it’s not just a tease like the the “Dirty Little Secrets” thing from last season that never really panned out. I hope, too, that if they’re sending these charged up people into battle, pitting opposites against each other, that they let it play out. Too often CBS charges up these people, then when it goes awry, they limit them to two beers a person, which quite frankly isn’t enough to catch a buzz on for most of them. If they’re setting them up like this, they have to let it play out.
