Survivor Micronesia Ends Just As Surprisingly As the Season Played Out

ep4_parvati_01.jpgIt was hard to say just what was going to happen after Thursday night’s Survivor episode. We were left with our first all female final four after Erik committed clearly the dumbest move in Survivor history, bar none. All four of these gals earned final four, but it was hard to say who earned final two or three. As they pointed out, it was quite ironic that the last blindside of the season was performed on them, as instead of going with a final three as they had the past few seasons, they were going back to the original formula of a final two.

While Natalie had begun to win the others over as of late, being just as devious as them, Cirie, Amanda, and Parvati had bonded early on out in the canoe, determining they would be final three together. In truth, it would have been a dumb move to bring Natalie along with two Faves. They needed all three Faves for the jury to put everyone on an even playing field. And once it got to deciding who would go to final two, it was assumed it was Amanda’s game to lose, by everyone including probably Amanda, but in the end, she couldn’t beat Parvati. I’m surprised on the reunion show that Jeff didn’t ask for a show of hands to see what the vote would have been had Amanda picked Cirie. After those jury questions, I’m thinking Amanda still would have lost.

The buzz among the fans, that is the ones not on the show, was that it should be either Amanda or Cirie winning the million dollars, but the jury obviously couldn’t see it that way. A lot of their questions and statements seemed to have to do with Amanda sliding through the game playing dumb and innocent, whereas with Parvati, all questions seemed to revolve around strategy.

Once Parvati talked about it live with Jeff Probst tonight, I saw what she did. She created the girls’ alliance herself, bringing Natalie and Alexis in, ensuring that whether it was the fans or favorites it control, she’d be safe either way. Amanda was mad initially, but gave in. She didn’t have a choice.

This ended up changing my mind some, but not totally. While I thought Amanda and Cirie clearly had created this situation for themselves, it really wasn’t them but Parvati, quietly setting this up, putting herself in a great position. And this is why I won’t change my mind totally. I still think the final four each each needed to contribute a little to get where they did. Natalie was great at getting close enough to people to stab them in the back, and she and Amanda together played great emotional games. Yet while Amanda still strategized and tried to play the flirt, it was Parvait that knew that the flirt game wasn’t enough to win last time, so still wouldn’t be. She needed to combine in some great strategizing for the win, and did.
